the IKEA Concept and worldwide IKEA franchisor.
The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday
life for the many people.

The IKEA vision is shared by all of us. All IKEA retailers and all other companies operating under the IKEA trademarks and each IKEA co-worker contribute to this vision.

We contribute to the IKEA vision by listening to the IKEA retailer’s needs, sharing good ideas and solutions, and providing the tools and knowledge to sell the IKEA product range.


Our organisation

Inter IKEA Systems B.V. was established in 1983 in the Netherlands. It is the owner of the IKEA Concept and the worldwide IKEA franchisor. Inter IKEA Systems B.V. is owned by Inter IKEA Holding B.V.

 

Inter IKEA Holding B.V. (located in the Netherlands), is the owner of IKEA range and supply (IKEA of Sweden AB and IKEA Supply AG), production (IKEA Industry AB) and franchising (Inter IKEA Systems B.V.) businesses . This structure simplifies and improves the IKEA franchise system, creating better conditions for increased customer focus and future expansion.

IKEA: Many companies, one brand​

Around the globe, a large number of companies operate under the IKEA trademarks. All IKEA franchisees are independent of Inter IKEA Group. A large group of franchisees are owned and operated by INGKA Group. Inter IKEA Group and INGKA Group have the same founder, and a common history and heritage, but have operated under different owners and management since the 1980s.

To improve the IKEA franchise system and clarify roles, IKEA range, supply and production activities transferred to the new Inter IKEA Group headed by Inter IKEA Holding B.V. The ownership changes came into effect on 31 August 2016. The Inter IKEA Group is now composed of three core businesses – franchising, range and supply and industry. The entities will work together to build a stronger franchise system. To build an even better IKEA offer together with retailers and suppliers based on existing and new strengths in our value chain.


Our Leaders

Inter IKEA Systems has the assignment to continuously develop the IKEA Concept and to ensure its successful implementation in existing and new markets. To fulfil this assignment, we are organised into four business units (IKEA Concept, IKEA Markets, IKEA Competence Development and IKEA Business and Consumer Intelligence) and five support units (Digital Business, HR & Competence, Business Steering, Business Transformation and Corporate Communications).

Ownership: Interogo

Inter IKEA Group (Inter IKEA Holding B.V. and all its subsidiaries) is owned by Interogo Foundation, based in Liechtenstein and established in 1989.

The foundation is an independent entity with legal personality and its own governing bodies. The foundation exists for an unlimited period of time.

Inter IKEA and Interogo were established during the 1980s to secure independence and longevity of the IKEA Concept. The IKEA Concept is the core asset of Inter IKEA Group and its franchisor operation. The overall purpose of Inter IKEA Group is to secure continuous improvement, development, expansion and a long life of the IKEA Concept. This will require investments in both good and bad times.
